Ancestors of William Theodore Proctor

Notes

8. Richard Proctor

The 1870 census says that the father and mother of William Proctor (1797-1871)
were both foreign-born, implying that Richard Proctor was foreign-born, if he is indeed
the father of William.

It is not entirely clear to me whether the father of William Proctor was Richard Proctor
or Jonas Proctor. The Pathway book says it was Richard. That book says RIchard wrote
his will in December 1812 in East Florida where he had lived for some time, but it was
signed in Cumberland Island, GA. It was probated Sept 6, 1813. He had a daughter
Hester and a son William. His wife was left nothing and was to have nothing to do
with his affairs or with his daughter, who was placed under the guardianship of his
executor Francis Richard, Jr. His widow was named Margaret.

12. James Sandiford

Elizabeth was his second wife.

In the 1790 census he is in the south part of Orangeburg District with
his family and one slave.

He's also in the 1800 census, but had died by the 1810 census.

14. Joseph J Perry

The 1790 and succeeding census records show the family living in
St. Helena's Parish, Beaufort District, with Joseph Perry listed as a slaveholder.
